West End and Broadway stars Earl Carpenter and Anita Louise Combe head the cast for a major new actor-musician production of the multi Tony award-winning musical RAGTIME
Earl Carpenter, who starred in the West End and on Broadway as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera and Inspector Javert in Les Miserables, and West End star Anita Louise Combe, Tessie Tura in Gypsy at the Savoy Theatre and both Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly in Chicago, are to head the cast of a major new actor-musician production of Ragtime.
It is the turn of the 20th Century in New York. An era is exploding. A century is spinning. And the people are moving in rhythm and rhyme to the music of Ragtime. Based on the novel by E.L Doctorow, Ragtime weaves together the story of three groups in America, represented by Coalhouse Walker Jr, a Harlem musician; Mother and her white, middle class family in New Rochelle; and Tateh, a Jewish immigrant who has come to America with his daughter seeking a new life. Their fictional lives become dramatically intertwined with one another as well as with historical figures including Harry Houdini, Booker T. Washington, JP Morgan and Henry Ford.

Ragtime is a brilliant show. Production sharp and engaging; plenty of songs and good storylines to enthrall and entertain. Many talented singers who gave soulful performances. Highly enjoyable. Charing Cross Theatre a great venue too. Wonderful evening.
It was a most inspirational show. The singing was excellent and so cleverly done with so many of the cast playing instruments at the same time. Simple set was used effectively. Sound and lighting were fantastic. Couldn't fault it
Great Show with some fabulous performances (acting, singing and musicians). Really enjoyed the show and would highly recommend it.
A strong emotional experience with mighty musical performances, we loved the show, and were it not about to close, would return to see it again! The Charing Cross Theatre is very comfortable for the performance. A small theatre with excellent sound quality, and visuals. Our only slight disappointment was the small bar behind the theatre's reception area - the only place to get a drink before the performance. It was off putting - dingy and cramped and unwelcoming!!
I thought the book and music far stronger than I expected. The cast were talented, good looking and the ensemble singing and orchestra playing brilliant
A very alive, engaging, and touching production. We could always have more ragtime music! The spirit of both the performers and the audience was endearing and most memorable.
Great performance, great cast, enjoyed it emencly and happy that I got the chance to see the show.
Very well acted but I found the show very heavy and it was not what I expected
Great show. Disappointed in how much additional charges on ticket face value buying through London theatre direct worked out at 8 pound per ticket
A really great show ,great acting and singing.all round winner.
It is a lively production with some excellent signing and the ragtime numbers work better than the doleful ones. The sound levels were not so good and it made it hard to hear the lyrics but this will no doubt receive attention. My party had some difficulty unravelling the story which introduced lots of characters eg Houdini, Emma Goldman, latvian immigrants, Miss Nesbitt (Crime of the Century) etc who had no signicant contribution to make to the main story and just fizzled out. Fine in a novel but less good as a piece of theatre.
Superb 'production' with many highlights and showcasing a variety of talents. Would love to see this again. Most definitely recommend it to others.....
